Pamlico County Register of Deeds

Welcome to the Pamlico County Register of Deeds website.  Our county was formed in 1872 from portions of Craven and Beaufort counties.  Our staff consists of the following: Sue H. Whitford, Register of Deeds and Lynn H. Lewis, Assistant and Janice M. Eckloff, Deputy.  Our office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Our mission, as mandated by North Carolina General Statutes, is to receive, record, index and maintain some of the most important records a citizen will ever need. All vital records which include births, deaths and marriages are available for copying and certification from 1913 with the exception of marriages which began in 1872.

Other services we offer to the professional community and general public include the recording of various legal documents such as deeds, deeds of trust and plats. We also administer notary oaths and maintain a record of all notaries commissioned in Pamlico County. Beer and wine licenses are issued annually and reminders are sent to each business of record in order to keep their license current.
