Emergency Management/Fire Marshal
CALL 911 for Ambulance, Fire and Police Emergencies
Law Enforcement is provided by the Pamlico County Sheriffs Office and by the Oriental Police Department inside the Town of Oriental.
Fire protection is given by the all-volunteer departments listed below. They are on-call 24 hrs per day to fight fires, help with extrication, traffic control and other emergencies. Fire Departments are key and play an essential role in homeowners and business insurance rates as they are graded by the Insurance Services Organization (ISO) to reflect the capabilities of fire extinguishment.

Fire Stations:
Medical Emergencies:
Emergency Medical Services are provided by Pamlico Rescue who maintain staffing around the clock at the Main Station in Bayboro, with daytime staffing at a substation located at Southeast Pamlico VFD in the Oriental area Monday through Friday. Pamlico Rescue operates at the EMT and Paramedic level of service providing Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) in a prehospital enviroment. Transportation of Medical Emergencies are made to Carolina East Hospital in New Bern, NC.
Fire Department First Responders in the Olympia, Reelsboro, Florence-Whortonsville, and Southeast Pamlico Districts often assist Emergency Medical Services by providing First Response services at the Medical Responder and EMT level of care.
For trauma cases, burns, special circumstance considerations, patients maybe airlifted to Vidant Greenville, UNC Chapel Hill, or other appropriate facilities by Aero Medical Providers throughout NC.
Volunteers:
Volunteers are always needed. If you are 18 years or older, have a high school education and want to help, contact any of the fire departments or rescue squad or contact the Emergency Management Director/ Fire Marshal's Office at the Pamlico County Courthouse for information on how to join. If you are 15-17 years old and interested in joining a fire department, Junior Firefighter programs are in place and you can find out more information by contacting the Fire Marshal's Office.

Your house or apartment number should be clearly visible from the road so that our emergency response team can find you at 2 o'clock in the morning.
On-The-Water Use Marine Channel 16:
The emergency marine channel 16 alerts the Coastguard Station at Hobucken and can also be used to contact Deaton's US Tow Boat services 24 hours per day.
